(Organized 1989)(Grand Restart, October 14, 2007)
On Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2007 an excited group of worshipers from various Churches of the Nazarene in Western North Carolina joined with the congregation of the former Franklin Church of the Nazarene for an exciting RESTART under a new name New Life Church of the Nazarene. The name reflects the vision and faith of a renewed congregation of believers who want to successfully present Jesus in their community, county, state, and around the world through the various ministries of the International Church of the Nazarene.
The RESTART was made possible by the volunteer efforts of dozens of lay persons and ministers from several congregations working with the local members and friends of the Franklin congregation:
Hendersonville First Church of the Nazarene – Rev. Harry and Doris Widener – Rev. Art and Doris Allen
Waynesville Church of the Nazarene – Rev. Tim and Karen Pullin – Rev. Rhonda Haney
Cherokee Church of the Nazarene – Revs. Lester and Lisa Hardesty
Hayesville Church of the Nazarene – Revs. Terry and Teresa Hensley.
This outstanding group of servant-leaders under the efficient leadership of Rev. Tim Pullin, Missional Area Coordinator for Nazarenes in Western North Carolina, provided sweat and dollars and inspiration and prayers. The group cleaned, refurbished, spruced up, painted, and shared pulpit duties and hospital visitation ministries. Rev. Art Allen and Doris faithfully served as interim pastors, driving from Hendersonville each weekend, for several months.
The congregation is now led by Pastor Jerry and Barbara Roach. Every week God is doing wonderful things in and through this revitalized group of believers.
